FAQs and more information about staying at Kinnaird woodland Lodges.

Kinnaird Woodland Lodges have been 4-star quality assured Visit Scotland graded.
- What’s the difference between the lodges?
Help choosing your lodge! We have two types of lodges, the premium woodland lodges (Scheihallion & Ben Vrackie) these lodges are larger with larger hot tubs, they are able to sleep up to 4 adults.
Ben Y Vrackie is our dog friendly lodge.
Our Cosy Woodland Lodges (Beinn A Glho & Bealach) small but still enough space for 2 adults, these two have a higher vantage point of the view as they are higher up the hill.
- Do the lodges have their own private hot tubs?
Yes, you will have exclusive use to private hot tub with spectacular views over the hills.
- How close to Pitlochry are you?
We are located 1.5 miles up the hill from the main street in Pitlochry. We recommend booking a taxi for evenings wanting to spend in Pitlochry without driving back to the lodge. The road (Kirkmichael road) is not lit by street lights from Moulin to Kinnaird. We walk into the centre a lot and it takes us roughly 25 minutes in and 30 minutes back
- Where is the nearest shop to stock up?
The nearest supermarket is the Co-op on West Moulin Road. Tesco & Asda both deliver to the lodges.
- What time is check in?
Standard Check in time is from 4pm; we do have the option for an early check in if you want to make the most of the day. Early check in is from 2pm and is £30; you can add this on when making your reservation or contact us if you decide later and we can check it is available. Although you may be running early please arrive on the time you haven chosen and arranged. We might be doing extra cleaning jobs, maintance, hot tub works and we want you to arrive when it is completely ready.
- What time is check out?
Standard Check out time is 10am, if you would like a lie in or to use the hot tub in the morning of departure you are welcome to add a late check out onto your reservation. Late check out is at 12pm and is £30.
- What do we do when we arrive?
Information regarding arrival and directions are emailed out a few days before arrival; follow the directions for parking and walk up the stairs to your lodge. You will either find the door is unlocked and key on the table or the key is in the key box & you have the combination. We kindly ask you browse through the information booklet. This is where you will find instructions for hot tub, wood burner, heating etc in here. You can refer back to this anytime throughout your stay.
- Do the hot tubs have operating times?
Yes, Hot tub operating times are 10am – 11pm, either one of us will be round in the morning before 10am. This is very important for us to do the necessary checks to keep the hot tub in use & safe. We ask you to wait after 10am because we do not want to intrude. You won’t necessarily see or hear us checking the hot tub.
- What are the extras in our lodges?
The lodges will have the extras you have selected when making the reservations in the lodge on arrival. The only extra you may have not paid for that is inside the lodge is the large basket of logs. We have left this extra in as it is convenient at night when we are not available to bring it to the lodge. Everything else inside the lodge is included with your stay. In the information booklet it will refer to extras, these are if you would like any more on top of what is there for you. Eg: more towels or robes, late check out.
- What do we do before leaving the lodge?
We don’t expect you to give it a deep clean but we expect it to be left in a tidy condition. All plates and crockery cleaned and put away and a quick wipe down.
- What is the security deposit and how does it work?
The security deposit is held the day before arrival, it’s £100. It will look like a pending transaction during your stay, if the property is left respectfully the security deposit is automatically released the day after departure. When the pending is released on your bank can take a couple of days just depends on your bank. The £100 is never taken out of your bank unless there has been damage and we have notified you. (If you broke a glass or plate we would not charge for this, but we would very much appreciate being told).
